July flew by WAY too fast in my opinion! Training has been excellent despite the hot temps: Hecksher Bike Intervals Tuesday's at 5:30AM and a trail interval Run followed by an open water swim at Sunken Meadow Thursday's at 5:15PM. The weekends have been different each week: Head of the Harbor ride a few weeks ago, a layered brick last weekend and hill repeats this weekend at Sweet Hollow and Hartman Hill!
I'm super psyched about the performances for Iron Fit Endurance athletes this month!! Without further ado, here they are:
Shayne Lewis s
tarted off the month with a great race at the Pat Griskus Sprint Triathlon! This race is one of my favorites. It’s up in Middlebury, CT and it starts at 6PM on a Wednesday evening! Shayne did fantastic, finishing 3rd in is age group and just 10 seconds from 2nd place!
That same week was The OWS Fire Island Ocean Swim. Bryan Krut does a fantastic job organizing this one-of-a-kind event! The swim starts at Atlantique Beach on Fire Island. There is a 1 mile, 5K and 10K distance to choose from. Shayne Lewis finished 2nd overall and 1st in his age group in the 1-Mile swim, Susan Roman won her division in the 1-Mile swim and Christa won the wetsuit division overall for the women in the 1-mile swim! I did the 5K swim as prep for the Cross Bay Swim the following weekend! We had gorgeous conditions for the swim this year! Here are some pics from the event!
Jose Hernandez traveled up to Albany that weekend to race a cycling event called the Ravenna 46 Miler where he and his cycling team had a great day! He has also been racing weekly out at Riverhead on Friday nights, Prospect Park and Floyd Bennett Field as well as a mountain bike race last weekend. Here are some pics from his various endeavors:
Event Power's Mighty North Fork Triathlon was a huge success! We had a bunch of people racing that day:
Gordon Lewis had a PR and won his age group!
Ken Krill had a PR!
Irene lam had a PR by 16 minutes!
Noah lam had a PR by 26 minutes!
Laura Giardino placed 3rd in her age group!
Hilary Topper had a fantastic race as prep for the NYC Triathlon the next weekend! Read her race report here!
The following weekend also had a bunch of racing despite SUPER oppressive heat and humidity:
Susan Roman had a magic day where everything came together in the Montauk Lighthouse Triathlon. Of course she had a PR too! Read her take on it here!
Shelley Bache had a PR in the NJ State Triathlon! She used this race as prep for Timberman!
Jackie Lott also raced the NJ State and had a great day and a PR despite the oppressive heat! Here's a great shot of her and her friend out on the course!
Frank Fiorello was 1st in his division in the Englewood Beach Triathlon!
Hilary Topper finished her very first Olympic distance triathlon at the NYC Triathlon where she had an incredible day! You can read her report HERE to get inspired!
My good friend Erin and I did the Maggie Fisher Memorial Cross Bay swim again! We had gorgeous conditions this year... Thanks so much for our kayak support this year Shayne Lewis and Scott Robertson!!
